Tables auxiliaires

  • When you give the author of a problem, it is not the name of the author which is recorded but its code ; and the name corresponding to this code is found in a table (that I call 'table auxiliaire'). And it is the same for sources, pieces, conditions, themes...
The language used in all the 'Tables auxiliaires' is French : you can't add nor remove any entry, but you can change its denomination.

Let see two examples showing how to use the 'Tables auxiliaires' :

Example 1 : you want to see 'Grasshopper' instead of 'Sauterelle' under a diagram.
To do this, you must rename the 'Sauterelle' in the fairy pieces' table.

    1. In the menu 'Tables auxiliaires', click on 'Pièces féeriques...'
    2. In the 'Aller à' zone, type 'SAU' (or 'SAUT' ...) to go to 'Sauterelle' in the grid
    3. In the selected line, you must read :
'Sauterelle' in the 1st column ('Pièces')
'Sauterelle' in the 2nd column ('Pièces (pour définition)') is used by WinChloe for solving.
'*' in the 3rd column ('R'), indicating that the piece is defined for solving.
'258' in the 4th column ('ID') : it is the code of the 'Sauterelle'.
You can only make changes in colums having a pale yellow background. In 'Pièces féeriques', it is only the 1st column.
    4. To make modifications, click on , and type 'Grasshopper'
    5. To validate the modifications, click on .

Example 2 : you want to record a problem reproduced in a german magazine whose author is 'Temur Tschchetiani' and it does not seem to be in the author's table.
This will happen frequently with the transcription of non-latin names and especially cyrillic names.
Generally (i.e. when I know the cyrillic spelling), I have used the next transcription (with some exceptions for first names also existing in french) :

To see if 'Temur Tschchetiani' is in the author's table with a different spelling :
    1. In the menu 'Tables auxiliaires', click on 'Auteur...'
    2. In the text zone near 'Rechercher', type 'ET_AN', i.e. the part of the name which must be written the same way in occidental languages.
The character '_' means : "one, and only one character at this place". It is used because the 'I' is perharps a 'Y'
Another special character can be used : '%', which means "0, 1 or more character(s) at this place".
    3. Click on 'Rechercher'. Amongst the selected authors, there must be 'CHKHETIANI Temur'. If you want, you can change the spelling (see example 1)
The research is made in the fields 'Identité' (case insensitive) and 'Infos sur l'auteur' (case sensitive). It is why 'SIMONET André' will also be kept.
If the searched name (or source, or condition, or piece...) is really not yet recorded, go to 'Suggérer une nouvelle entrée pour les tables auxiliaires' in the '?' menu to inform Christian Poisson. The entry will be added as soon as possible (but wait at least one day) and you'll only have to update the 'tables auxiliaires'
  • Mise à jour des tables auxiliaires : To update the 'Tables auxiliaires'. If you are not connected to Internet, WinChloe will ask you to do so.
When all the informations are collected, a page appear indicated the new records that has been added in each of the 'Tables auxiliaires', and also the new definitions of fairy pieces recorded in the Registry.

  • You must always update the 'Tables auxiliaires' before you download a new table.
