| Getting Started 2 |
| |
| This page is a continuation of the
Getting Started 1 page. Below are snippets from emails from
Christian offering hints and instructions on the WinChloe program. |
| |
| Q.
In the completed works section, I notice that some of the items are in
blue (i.e. Broodings 1-17). What does that mean? |
| A.
All the first issues are recorded, but there are still new issues to
come (the publication has not ceased : in that case, colour is pink). |
| |
| Q.
Is there a way to search for 'Task' problems? |
| A.
No. task is too subjective unless the task is named, such as Babson. |
| |
| Q.
I notice that with the composers you list birth and death dates.
How does this get updated? |
| A.
Just send me (Christian) an email and I will add the additional
information. |
| |
| Q.
If I wanted to search for problems involving 'castling' or 'en passent'
how would I filter in WinChloe? |
| A.
Query : "Themes" "like" "Roque" "Et" "Themes" "like" "Prise en
passant" |
| |
| Q.
Is there a limit on the number of characters I can put in the
Commentary field? |
| A.
There is no limit for the size of the text in the field "Commentaires",
and it is often used by other users for personal comments. |
| |
| Q.
What is the etiquette field used for? |
| A.
To create indexes for books or articles (the index of the Album FIDE
for instance are made with this function). The Index use the
"Etiquette" field : if this field is empty, the index will be empty.
You can use the "Auto-etiquetage" function to automatically assign an
"Etiquette" to each problem of a table. |
| |
| Q.
What is the purpose of Files/Reconstruct? |
| A.
"Files/Restructure index" has to be used when the index of a table is
corrupted : this is here an Index for database, not the same kind of
index that you can use for books or articles. |
| |
| Q.
What is the purpose of Files/Compact? |
| A.
"Files/Compact" can be used to reduce the size of a table, especially
big tables like the "Echecs" one. It can also be used to partly
recover corrupted tables. |
| |
| Q.
WinChloe won't solve some problems. I can't find the standard
'mate' symbol that WinChloe uses? What can I do? |
| A.
With 'Num Lock' on press ALT + 0135. You
will then get the ‡ symbol. Or within WinChloe press
'Ctrl + <' |
