Chess  Problem  Solving  Computer  Software  Help

NOTE: Neither SGO (StrateGems.org website) SG (StrateGems Magazine), nor The Good Companions have any commercial connection with any computer software programs listed within this website.  These guides are provided as a service to members of the chess problem community; many of whom rely on these types of software programs to check their problems for soundness.

There are several chess problem solving computer software packages available.  Many of them only solve direct mate problems.  However, when you get into the area of helpmates, selfmates, seriesmovers, fairy pieces, and irregular board sizes, the software selection becomes much more limited.

This section will give some instructions and hints for several of these more advanced software packages.  We will eventually add some help files for the following programs.  If you have some knowledge of these programs and would like to contribute information for the help file, please contact the webmaster.  If you have a working knowledge of some of the other more advanced programs and would like to see them included, please contact the webmaster.
