Threemovers |
|
|
The Threemovers section showcases only directmates in 3 moves, aka
"Mate in 3" or (as stipulated in
StrateGems) "#3". In these, White
must find the only move which will force a checkmate of Black no later
than White's third move. Some directmates contain "tries" (indicated by a
^ below the diagram), which are key-moves
which fail to exactly one defense by Black. SG's Threemovers editor,
Rauf Aliovsadzade,
selected the (3) examples below, and provided comments on each. All
selections were published originally in
StrateGems.

Decoys of two
black pieces by wQ sacrifice and complimentary obstruction of both
black pieces ,after capture by bS ,allow the wK to move to three
different squares axctivating thus the wR-wB battery. Very impressive! |
